PP-PI or PP ?

Hello all, For one bottling plant solution, PP implementation should be preferred or PP-PI ? Can anyone come up with the comprehensive list tht for following industries PP-PI is preferred & for others PP ?Thks in advance

The key distiction that I find between PP and PPPI are two fold1) PPPI requires much more data entry for the same level of information because of the operation and phase construct (which also reduces the usefullness of Capacilty Levelling).2) only PPPI can set up PERT-type links (FF, SS, SF, FS all with offsets) between between operations in different routing/recipes and therefore different orders at the same or different levels of the BoM.I have worked a client which used the second and it would have been impossible in PP. I am currently working a PPPI client without that need and the amount of data maintenance is dreadful! Of course, other opinions will be welcome

Hi,Choose Process Industry Process orders as a manufacturing methodif after an analysis of your product, manufacturing process, integration rqmts and strategic plan, you decide that you require high level of shop floor integration.Otherwise choose Descrete or repetetive.Actually according to SAP shop floor integration is the key factor for deciding a manufacturing method.and i dont believe that Batch management is the key driver, Batch management can also be used extensively in some of the Descretemanufacturing method...In a nut shell your final decision depends on your needs and your current manufacturing situation.Regards,

you must make clear what you call medical company, if it is a company manufacturing medical instruments (or devices) or a pharma industry. despite the strict regulation that may be imposed on both branches, from a very general and technical point of view, the first case could be managed via pp and for the second case, pp-pi would be the best choice. for instace, we have implemented pp-pi in a pharma industry where we have an interface between sap and the plant control system (plc, scales, bar code readers and so on ) . production follows gmp practices and this can be "easily" achieved through pp-pi.
