distant, far, remote
三个词都有"表示在时间、空间的远离、远隔或分开"的含义,但是具体用来仍有一定区别。
一、distant 相对于far来说更为正式一些,而且distant所表示的通常是具体的距离或者即便不具体也是相当长的距离。再者,distant和remote都可以表示关系的远近亲疏,而far则极少。Distant的反义词可以有close, friendly等。例句:
1 )The center of the city is about 10 miles distant from the station. 市中心距离车站约有10英里远。表示空间的距离。
需要注意的是:在表示距离的数字后面常常用distant来连接,而far, remote没有这种用法。

distant基本上是far-away的意思，但它还有疏远、冷淡的意思，比如distant relations远亲，这是就不可与far互换。而且far作形容词时一般用作表语的较多，作定语的情况比较少.
