Yao Ming was born in Shanghai, started playing for the Shanghai Sharks as a teenager in 1997, and was selected to enter the national basketball team in 1998 and played on their senior team for five years in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), winning a championship in his final year. Yao first played for China in the Summer Olympics at the 2000 Olympics Basketball Tournament. He joined the Houston Rockets into NBA in 2002. Yao ranked No. 1 in Forbes Chia Celebrity List in 2005
