no more 与 no longer只有位置的不同，而没有语义的差异。
no more只能放在句首或句末。
no longer除了放在句首或句末，还可以放在实义动词之前，助动词和系动词之后。
I saw him no more.
I saw him no longer.
I will see him no more.
I will no longer see him.
no longer（= not…any longer），主要用来表示时间或距离的“不再”，意在对现在的情况和过去的情况加以比较，所以多用于现在时。它一般修饰延续性动词，表示某个动作或状态不再延续下去。
You are no longer a child. = You aren’t a child any longer.
你已不再是个孩子了。
He no longer lives here. = He doesn’t live here any longer.
他不再住这里了。
no more（= not…any more），主要用来表示数量和程度，一般常修饰短暂性动词，指某动作不再重复发生，它所表达的是never again或“没有更多”的含义。
The baby no more cried. = The baby didn’t cry any more.

no longer的用法
no longer意为“不再”，通常放在行为动词前，be动词的后面。 no longer 可用not…any longer代替。如：
①Annie no longer lives here. 安妮不住这儿了。
②She is no longer a music lover.她不再是一个音乐爱好者了。
③Her father died, and after that she no longer went to school. ( ＝she didn't go to school any longer)她的父亲去世了，此后她就不再上学了。

no more/not…any more与no longer/not…any longer同义，但用法有所区别：当涉及数量和程度时，要用no more。如：
①There is no more bread. 没有面包了。
②We saw him no more = We didn't see him again. 我们再也没有看到他了。
▲而谈到时间、强调今昔对比时，不能用no more，而要用 not…any more, no longer/ not…any/ longer。

1. No more与瞬时动词连用，表程度不再增加，次数不再重复，
no longer与延续性动词或表示状态的词连用，表示时间上的“不再”持续，(过去曾经......，现在不......)。
The baby no more cried.或The boy cried no more.=The boy didn't cried any more.(表哭的程度不再增加)
We have no more food at home.

He no longer works/lives here.＝He doesn't live\work here(表示过去在这里工作\住,现在不在这里工作\住).
2。no more还可表数量上" 和...... 一样不......"常和than 连用，no longer 不行。
A whale is no more a fish than an elephant.(a whale ,a elephaht都不是鱼）
It's no more than a kilometre to the school.

no longer一般是指时间上的不再，no more一般是指数量上的不再。
