英美对地下室的称呼是相同的:
the 1st basement地下一层
the 2nd basement地下二层
美国楼层顺序是从1往上排列.
英国则把一层称为
the ground floor.
二层称为
the 1st floor.
依次类推.
建筑的顶层则可以称为
the top floor.
英国人表达第一层楼通常说the ground floor,美国人则说the first floor;
英国人表达第二层楼通常说the first floor,美国人则说the second floor.
以此类推,美国人说高于二层以上的建筑时要比英国人多一层.
比如：大厦的二层高有一个捐款箱.

如果说在第几层,英国人通常只说on...floors.
而美国人还可以说in...story.
