Learning how a good national language?

If you want to learn the language thing., It can do self-study? For example: Japanese, Korean. In short the language of each country, right. If you own efforts to learn, will succeed? What are the basic method?

Generally speaking, there are six main approaches which are applied widely in language teaching. They are communicative language approach, topic-based approach, task-based approach, text-based approach, cooperative language learning, and lexical approach. In China, text-based approach and lexical approach are much more popular, esp in public education system. What you mentioned "self-study" may provide you some achievement within these two approaches. For example, self-study may enhance your vocabulary, your reading ability, however, your comprehensive ability might be limited as the same time. What I recommend is that try to use different approach, and find which one is suitable for you. eg, by communicative approach, you may find you learn how to use language appropriately in different contexts; or by cooperative language learning (what we call interaction), you may swap experience with other people and gain improvement together... Or, you can make best use of the advantages of each approach and bypass the disadvantages of them. In short, language learning is so flexible that can be achieved in many different ways, just try and find the suitable one for youself. Any language learning should be devided into 4 parts: listening, speaking, reading and writing.

And any learning should be done step by step, and generally can be devided into 3 steps: junior, middle and senior.

so as you see, in different step, the focuses are different.

but in every step, you will always learn more new words especially in the senior level.

in the junior, pronunciation is important and elements of words---so called PinYin or YinTu are basically needed

In the middle,you should complete grammar learning

In the senior, you have to read more articles, listen news,and write compositions.
