Diligence      Just as Edison, one of the greatest inventors in human history, once said, “Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration.” Diligence is to success what water is to fish. To put it in simple words, nothing will succeed without diligence.  Diligence makes people have a deeper understanding and better mastery of knowledge, which can be applied to practice, consequently bringing benefit and success to people. Take A students for example. Had it now been for their diligence, they wouldn’t have made admirably excellent academic performance. Consider Edison, the creator of incandescent lamp. He made countless attempts to look for the right material and finally got what he needed. He lacks diligence, nothing would be achieved, making all his time, energy and money wasted. If you are an ordinary person not blessed with talent, so long as you can put all your efforts and energy into your study or work, success will embrace you sooner or later, just as the frequently-quoted Chinese saying goes, “Diligence is the means by which one makes up for one’s dullness.”    Taking what has been mentioned above into consideration, we may safely draw the conclusion that diligence is the first significant factor on the way to success. Only if we are diligent in doing whatever we are engaged in, can we make achievements we are longing for.
