在定于从句中，这两个都是属于关系代词，关系代词会跟着先行词，什么是先行词呢？就是关系代词后来带出的从句所要修饰的词就是先行词。

例如： I use this pen which is in black color. 我使用的这只笔是黑色的。 这里pen是定于从句中的先行词，而which就跟着先行词而带出一个从句来在句子中作为定语修饰pen. which 是指物件或者事情的时候可以用which。that 可以指人或者物件或者事情。以上关系代词也可以用that来代替。

什么时候只用that而不用which 呢？

如果当先行词是nothing, something, anything, all, each等不定代词时，关系代词规定只用that，或者当先行词被形容词最高级、序数词所修饰时。 例如：I have some books that are very good.
