　　There was once a master of Buddhism called Yixing, who led a miserable life in his early childhood. Fortunately, he lived next door to an old lady whose surname was Wang. Mrs. Wang was so generous that she donated a large sum of money to him over a certain period of time. Therefore, he resolved to pay her back if possible. Then, during the rein of the emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty (around the tenth century A.D.), Yixing was held in such a high esteem that the emperor followed his advice on everything. Soon afterwards, Mrs. Wang's son was accused of murder, and the trial was still under progress. The lady paid a visit to Yixing, demanding that he should find a way to set her son free. After realizing her wish, he replied, ”If what you want were money or cloth, I could give you ten times as much as you ask for. But, as the emperor orders that the law be enforced to the letter, I am afraid there is no possibility that your son will be acquitted. What better step can we take?” On hearing this, she pointed her index finger at him, exclaiming, “Is there any use in getting familiar with you, a most celebrated monk?” Though he apologized to her again, she left without looking back.
