that is all right, don't scare for that,
all of Philippine people are kind and friendly to treat for foreigner. just take easy.
to study in English short-term program, i feel that is great idea, because that is much close to korean, and you may get your objective for english improvement, because english is major and official language in Philippine, specially in capital city : manila
