Advantages of hosting a Olympics:

It raises the prestige of the host country among the comity of nations.
By building new lodging facilities meant for the sportmen and other visitors, a permanent new town is created；
The city people and people from other areas of the country have a chance to witness the mega event, which is a very rare opportunity they get；
The hosting of olympics besides promoting tourism in the country also provides a number of employment opportunities to the native people。

Disadvantages:
Normal and routine life of the residents is affected；
The inmates of the area lose their privacy；
Some times the government may take over the lands of some private citizens for the mega event and so they get displaced from their area。
