Knock on  强调 “在大面积处用力敲击”，Knock at  强调“在一点上轻轻地叩击”，二者可互换，不过前者属于非正式用法。

There was an insistent knock on my door.  我听到一阵急促的敲门声.

另外，knock on 还可以表示 “告一段落”，如：

Let's knock on for another half an hour.  我们再干半小时 吧.

都有敲打的意思 ，KNOCK ON 是动词语境，有使增加；不停地工作的意思，而 Knock at只有单独的名词语境，打， 捶， 敲；挝，大概会是这样。

这就是介词的区别了，有时虽然看起来差别不大，其实意思有着很大的不同。 knock on 一般说敲门是用这个（比较轻的） knock at 意思是打 锤 敲 它相对knock on来说力度要大些，猛些。
