英语中sale与sell的区别

我老是分不清楚，只知道一个是动词一个是名词，具体怎么用啊？

1). sell: 动词，卖He sold the old book to me. 他把这本旧书卖给我。
2). sale:名词，销售，大减价促销 The shoes shop is having a sale this week. 这家鞋店本周减价销售。

on sale销售(打过折后的销售价)
for sale(待售,没减价的销售价)

sale: 名词 n. 1. 卖,出售[U][C] These goods are entirely unfit for sale. 这些货物完全不宜销售。

sell:

及物动词 vt.

不及物动词 vi.

3. 有销路 Is that item selling? 那商品好销吗?

4. 【口】被接受,受欢迎 I'm sure your idea will sell. 我相信你的观点能被接受。

sale在国外打折店里通常能看到，有点“甩卖”的意思 至于sell只是单纯卖的意思
