Proud of being Chinese

It was reported that more and more American people had changed their attitude towards China after their president Barack Obama visited China in November,2009.China is no longer a dream or a mystery to American people or any of the western people. Not only due to the visit by the president, but also due to the rapid development of China's economy and the perfect performance of this ancient country in the recent economic crisis as well,China has left a very deep impression on the people all over the world.

Besides its long history, large area and great population,China has showed unlimited and super power in different aspects. From the rescue in the earthquake and the rebuilding after it in Sichuan Province,we can see the united spirit of the whole nation;from the success of the 29th Olympic Games in Beijing,we can feel the great enthusiasm of its people;and from the celebration of its 60th founding anniversary,we can experience the flourishment of its economy.

Being one of its citizen,I really feel stable, peaceful, hopeful, developing and flourishing as well. While I was seeing the end of the movie "The Year 2012" directed by American,I thought the Chinese ancient philosophy can also work well in the world issues, and it can be a great help for the whole human beings, especially for its future.Living in this country,I have to say,"I am very proud of being Chinese."

Am Proud,I Am Chinese Nation Day is coming,my motherland is celebrating her 60th birthday,I feel fairly excited and proud like other Chinese, for I am Chinese too. 60 years! What a long and hard time it is!.Looking back,my motherland went through a great and unordinary time, facing countless difficulties. We created our country with our own hands, going through the Three-year Hard Period from 1959-1961 and Ten-year Culture Revolution, which had brought about great trouble to our country. Hower, thanks to the right leadership of the Communist Party and the efforts of the whole China,we Chinese have overcome the difficulties and problems one by one.Now we are advancing on the right way. My motherland is the largest country in the world, covering an area of 9.6 million square kilometres and owning a population of 1.3billion.The Chinese people are brave and hard-working,they have made great contribution to the world.Playing a more and more important role in the world stage,China will become the most powerful country. I am proud of being Chinese. Seeing the bad things in China does not affect my proud of my nationality. There must be optimistic people within a country to try everything he/she can to help, or make progress (no matter how small it is). A real confident nation, just like a confident person, should not shy away from facing the bad things. For example, history is part of the identity of a country. By facing the history, no matter it is good or bad ,demostrates the confidence of the country. It is the same for the bad things. I feel bad about people's misbehavior, but I don't feel bad to be part of the people here. Just because I care, I write, and I bring the topic. I hope more people care about what is going on, and encourage people to write about it and talk about it.” I find it amusing. Chinese say "I am proud to be a Chinese..." too often. Americans don't say that. And sometimes it can be politically incorrect to declare "I am proud to be an American...". So, few people say that. Why do Chinese say that often? I guess that back in average Chinese' minds, there may be some inconfidence..., or insecurity. ONE DAY, Chinese will not say that amusing line. That day, we know that Chinese can really be proud of themselves. Despite the recent material advancement, that day hasn't arrived yet, but it will one day. Posted by: jqian on November 30, 2006 09:44 AM jqian - you might not hear Americans say it often in China, but in America, people do often say "I'm proud to be an American" and don't always have to state it verbally. Ever since the 9/11 attacks there are American flags and patriotic messages all over cars and buildings. I don't see why either should be offensive to say. I guess because pride and ego have the connotation of saying you're better than others. If people let go of their pride and ego just a little and see everyone as equals, this would be a better peaceful world. Of course it's just human nature to do this.
