A Clever Fish

“I have to get out of here!” Little fish was tired of the pond.

Big cat heard him and said, “Can I help you? You might enjoy the nice water in the stream over there. You can

see just over the hill.”

“Sea! Old fish told me a story of the sea,” Little fish said, “Can you take me there?”

“Yes,” said Big cat.

Big cat put a big bag into the water. Little Fish swam into the bag.

Big cat ran over the hill and into a house. Little fish looked around and asked, “Is the sea in here?”

“Your trip is over,” Big cat said.

“Is…is… this your pond?” Little fish asked.

“No, It’s my kitchen,” Big cat said, “And I will cook you!”

“Are you…a…cat?” Little fish asked.

“Yes, I am Big cat. And I will eat you.”

“Big cat, stop, please!” Little fish cried. “Just look at me. I am all bone. I am not good to eat. But I know a big

fish… so big that he would take up this house.”

Big cat looked at little fish. “Where is this big fish?” he asked.

“If you take me back. I will get him for you,” Little fish said.

“How can you get him for me?” Big cat asked.

“Do you have some ketchup?” Little fish asked. “He likes ketchup. Take me back. Bring a string and some

ketchup, and I will do it all for you.”

Big cat took the bag with Little fish and a bag with the ketchup and ran back to the pond.

Little fish swam out of the bag.

He took the string and swam down with it. “Big cat,” Little fish called. “Take it up!” Big cat pulled on the string.

He pulled and pulled, and pulled a broken bike out of the water. Big cat was so angry. He hoped up and down.
Little fish swam around the pond with a smile. “It was just a fish story ,” he cried out. “Just a fish story…for a Big cat!”

“难道，这……这儿是你的池塘？”小鱼害怕极了。
“不！这儿是我的厨房！”大猫笑着说到“现在，该把你煮了！哈哈！”
“你……你……你是猫？”小鱼问大猫。
“正是！我就是大猫。现在，我要吃了你！”
“大猫，求求你别吃我！”小鱼哭着说，“请你仔细地看看我吧，我瘦得只剩皮包骨了。我的味道一点儿也不好！但是，我知道有一条大鱼，大得可以撑破这座房子！”
大猫半信半疑地打量着小鱼，问到：“这条大鱼在哪里呢？”
“如果你把我送回去，我就会帮助你找到他的！”小鱼说。
“那你怎么帮助我找到他呢？”大猫问小鱼。
“你有番茄酱吧？”小鱼问。“他可喜欢吃番茄酱了，你先把我送回去，然后带上一条绳子和一些番茄酱，我会帮你搞定一切的。”
大猫一手拎着装着小鱼的袋子，一手拎着一袋番茄酱，朝着池塘飞奔过去。
小鱼游出了袋子。
它带着绳子，一直往深处游去。“大猫！”小鱼喊到。“接住！”大猫抓住了绳子，他拉啊拉，拉啊拉！最后，从水里拉出一辆破自行车。大猫被气得上蹿下跳。
小鱼开心地在池塘里游来游去，它笑着说，“这只是一个关于一条鱼的故事，”它大声喊到，“只是一个讲给大猫听的，一个关于小鱼的故事！”
