A lucky bird—the king of the bird
It is a lucky seabird. Its name is Sterna paradisaea（北极燕鸥）. It can live for a long time. It may live for about 20 years. It's about 33-39 centimeters long. It is from the North Pole. It's a very cold place. Thebird looks so small, but it is great. Many people love it. It is a hero in people's eyes. It can enjoy two summers cach year. It's so lucky. It's good at flying. It can fly about 40,000 im cach year. It's the only animal to travel so far in a year. Many people don't believe this, but it's true. Scientists have studied the birds carefully.
The bird is gray and white. It has a red mouth and two red feet. The top of its head is bolck. It looks like a black cat. It looks like a gentleman in the sky. It lives in the North Ploe when the North Pole is in summer. It eats fish from the sea and other small animals. When winter is coming, the weather is getting cold. It can't find food easily. It must leave there. It flies to the South Pole. It is a long travel. It can stay there till winter, and then it flies gack to the North Pole.

Why not cook at home?
Many people are so busy these days that they have no time to cook at home. This has become a problem because most families love home cooking! The food tastes good and a family meal can bring everyone together. In some families, meals are often the only chance everyone gets to see each other during the day.
Another reason people enjoy home cooking is that it is a way of showing love. A parent who makes some cookies is not just satisfying a child's sweet tooth. He or she is sending a message. The message says, "I care about you enough to spend an hour making cookies that you will eat up in 15 minutes if I let you."
There is also something about the smell of home cooking. The smell of cooking makes people happy. It makes most of us feel good and loved_even if we're the ones doing the cooking! Next time you smell a cake making, stop for a moment and pay attention to your mood.
Everyone should learn to cook something. Why not give your parents a surprise with a simple meal one day? It will make them very happy.


3、 Kids want to hear more bedtime stories
"Almost two-thirds of children want their parents to spend more time reading to them before bed,and most prefer Mom's storytelling to Dad's,"researchers said.
The study showed that younger children aged 3-4 were most hungry for more stories, with over three quarters saying they wished their parents read to them more often.
More than half of all children aged 3-8 said story time was their favorite with their parents.
"The results of our research showed the traditional activity of storytelling continues to be a powerful learning and emotional resource in children's lives,"said child psychologist Richard Woolfson（理查德.沃尔夫森）.
When Mom and Dad are not at hand, celebrities will do: over 30 percent of children said they would like to hear a bedtime story from Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe（丹尼尔.雷德克里夫）.
"It can be very difficult for parents to find time to read for their children, but these moments can help build strong bonds and play a vital part in their children's development," said Woolfson.


4、 A young apple tree
A poor farmer had a friend who was famous for the wonderful apples he grew.
One day, his friend gave the farmer a young aple tree and told him to take it home and plant it.
The farmer was pleased with the gift, but when he got home he did not know where to plant it. Finally he planted the tree in the woods where no one could see it. But without sunlight and good soil, the tree soon died.
Later the friend asked the farmer why he planted the tree in such a poor place. "What's the difference?" the farmer said angrily. "If I plant the tree near the road, strangers will steal the fruit. If I plant the tree in one of my fields, my neighbors will come at night and steal some of the apples. If I plant it near my house , my own children will take the fruit."
"Yes," said the friend, "but at least someone could enjoy the fruit. Now you not only rob everone of fruit, but also destroy a good apple tree！
