主要说用科技来治理环境问题是有效的、可行的、积极的，举了治理河流污染的例子。然后，简单化人们的生活即减少生活的科技含量在现代社会是不可行的，同时也是对环境问题的被动应答。
While technology development has brought us great convenience and better economy, many people have turned to be aware of the environmental problems that technology development has caused. To solve the problem, I think that instead of simply reducing the use of technology, which is passive and unrealistic in the modern society, we should take a more active attitude. For instance, we can solve the environmental problems by technology itself.

As we know, water pollution has been formed mainly by industrial factories. This is a typical environmental problem caused by development in technology and it can not be solved if everyone just simplifies his or her life by discarding technology (which even can’t be realized). Only technology can solve the water pollution.：We can place contamination monitoring system to foresee the potential problems of certain rivers, we can use report devices to analysis and point out the pollutants， and we can develop scientific methods to mollify and even eradicate the pollution through uses of enormous technical facilities.

In conclusion, we should desert the inactive and unpractical thought that the solution to environmental problems can only be everyone accepts a simpler way of life. Indeed, using technology as our weapons to fight with those problems is more practical and positive, and is undoubtedly the better choice.

我认为，科技技术的创造也需要环境不污染。有些东西，需要什么树木，河水，但这些都被污染了，你怎么发明出来？如果我们接受时代的进步会让地球更早的毁灭，那么我们是不是该放弃科技，让地球的寿命更长久呢？
我们发明的汽车的确给人们带来了很大的便捷，但是同时，它也制造了交通事故，使许多人因此丧命。还有在此强调，地球不只是人类，它还是那些居住在这个星球上的不宜计数的生命们的。
我们的科技发展了，却使地球温暖化。现在的冬天明显比以往要来的晚的多。我们滥用地球的资源，让我们自己过上好生活，却让一些无辜的物种灭绝。现在好了，陆地上的资源要用光了，我们还心安理得的像大海“抢”资源。在这样下去，别说未来了，就算地球明天就要毁灭，也不是没有可能的。
时代、科技发展，并且被合理运用，才有好处，如果不能合理运用，则弊大于利！

As far as I am concerned. Global environmental problems can not be solved in the foreseeable time-scale. Simply many under-developed or developing countries of the world are still not taking the issue seriously which is including China. developed western countries are also have different attitudes towards the problems. The progress is long and painfully slow.The most noticeable step now being taken by the EC(European Communities) is the new law by cutting CO2 emissions from all industries and vehicles by charging different road tax according to engine sizes and force manufacturers to make less polluting engines.Even house buildings have new rules now to cut heat losses which are one step closer for tackling environmental pollutions.But these actions are only taken by western developed world. We need other less developed countries to do the same. Otherwise all these hard works will be cancelled out by those who care less for this living world.
