I think it's usually unnessary. you can learn in the class by listening to teacher seriously, you can also learn by yourself after school. whether you can learn well or not is not depend on if there's a home teacher. the most important thing is that you learn by your heart. but there are still some exceptions. such as learning some skill which is not included in the course, you want to get great advance in a short time, and so on. in a word, if you can solve problems by yourself, you don't have to ask for others' help; if you need some extra or special help, then you can do it, having a tutor.
