这次用英文为一本英文书作读书报告，感触良多。英文基础的限制，使我在整个过程之中，都感到是在应对一个极大的挑战。

首先，选书时，我在纠结了很久之后选择了《格列佛游记》，作为一本出色的讽刺小说，它虚幻的故事情节、精巧的设计、以及故事背后揭露的深刻社会现实，都让我感到震撼。所以在最后选择了它。没想到，这个选择其实在后来带给了我很大的挑战，首先作为一部虚构的小说，小说中有很多的由作者创作的名词，这些词汇让我理解文章带来了较大的困难。我不得不经常翻阅它中文译本才能理解。其次，作为一部具有深刻内涵的讽刺小说，《格列佛游记》论及很多宗教、政治问题，这些问题用母语阐释时都较难理解，更不用说是用自己半生不熟的外语来阐述了。这就导致自己在写作时遇到极大困难，很难将自己的想法合适地表现出来，需要经常借鉴前人的议论，所以文中其实很多观点是有他人色彩的。关于这一点感觉很遗憾，由于自身水平的限制，未能将自己的感受完整如实地表现出来。

在我进行整个读书报告的过程之中，始终感受到因为自身水平原因而给自己的作较深入的探究带来了极大限制。认识到基础学科水平的优劣实在是限制人综合素质提升的关键因素，所以奠定好基础应该是我们成长中的关键。

It made me think a lot to do a reading report for an English book in English. It was a huge challenge to finish the work because of my limitation in English.

At the very beginning, I made a tough choice among the endless sea of books, and finally I turned to Gulliver's Travels, for its fantasy story, ingenious plot design and the social reality revealed strongly shocked me as a splendid satire novel. This choice brought me unexpected challenge. First, there will be plenty of self-generating words by author in a fiction, which actually was the obstacle in my understanding of the novel. I have to check its Chinese version. At the second place, religious and political problems, which could be hardly understood by native speakers, not mention unfamiliar foreigners, were concerned in Gulliver’s Travel. The aforesaid factors put me in a dilemma—as I could not express my point appropriately, I had to refer to others’ views which might be poured their own emotional flavor. I feel pity at this point. It is my limitation that stands in the way of fluent and total expression of my feelings and understandings.

During the whole process, my limitation hovered round posing problems for me in further study. However, I realize the importance of basic skills in comprehensive quality, and a substantial basement is the sticking point in our development.
