Manitoba is one of Canada's provinces. It is bordered by the provinces of Ontario to the east and Saskatchewan to the west. Along with Saskatchewan and Alberta, it's called the Prairies. This region of Canada is known for its fertile agricultural land and valuable energy resources. Manitoba is also known as the Land of 100,000 Lakes.
The First Nations people, the earliest inhabitants of the Praires, were skilled buffalo hunters. French-speaking people have lived in the Prairie provinces since the early days of the fur trade. Descendants of these early settlers still live in the Prairie region.
