 Physical characteristics– looks, appearance, grooming, dressing
 Social characteristics – communication, ability to get along with

 Personality – perseverance, determination, daring, toughness
 Intelligence characteristics – ability to understand and assess issues,
make decisions, solve problems
 Work related characteristics –attitude towards work, ambition

Student is to provide an example of this approach (5 marks)

Behavioral approach (10 marks)
1) Task-oriented style
manager monitors subordinates closely to ensure their tasks are completed and up to standards

2) Employee-oriented
manager tries to motivate rather than control subordinates. Encourages participation in decision-making, develops friendly and trusting relationships

3. Leader’s power position
– The higher up the corporate hierarchy, the more power the leader has, and thus the more influence he can exercise.

The document must include page number, use Times New Roman Font (Size 12) with top, bottom margins of 1” and right, left margins of 1.25” and with ‘Justify’ alignment.
